I absolutely LOVE being dorky with my kids. It happens quite often in the car, on the way to school or church. We've had many a strange or inappropriate conversation. In fact, there's one road we drive that always, magically results in a conversation about poop, flatulence, or other similar topics. Never fails! (I know, my mother would be ashamed).
Well, one day we were discussing teeth. I believe one of my children had just lost or was about to lose a tooth. So we were talking about the tooth fairy. Then, I'm not sure how the topic changed - most likely it was me just thinking of something randomly absurd - but I asked, "What if there was a leg fairy? What if, instead of losing our teeth, we lost our legs, and the fairy had to haul all our big legs around?" Then that brought about the visuals of baby legs growing in, with tiny toes and imbalanced humans.
We laughed pretty hard about it all for a while. To my kids, it was just a silly conversation. But in the back of my mind, I couldn't stop thinking of the dorky idea. It was too fun! Thus spawned the idea for my book, The Leg Fairy. The first chapter is satisfyingly hilarious! I can't wait for y'all to read it!
